Healthcare Compliance Pros (HCP) provides software and support that help organizations create, implement, maintain, and assess compliance programs. HCP supports the creation of a compliance program by running assessments to find areas of focus, selecting training based on organizations' needs and providing guidance through HCP compliance advisors. HCP implements the compliance program with an emphasis on automation, and maintains the program by continuously updating training, documents, and procedures. Additionally, they assess the compliance program by understanding the current state of the organization and making updates as needed.
Our goal was to improve HCP’s offering by redesigning the product and streamlining processes so any necessary edits or updates to individual areas of the product can be done easily. Additionally, we were also tasked with redesigning the software and making the user interface more intuitive.
Due to the complexity of replacing an entire software program, we needed to ensure that the new software was scalable in both size and number of accounts and that the workflows were simplified and made consistent. Not only that, the nature of this product is complex as well. Organizational compliance is a volatile industry—there are new regulations and guidelines published frequently and we needed to ensure that HCP’s software was built in a way to support this.
Together with the HCP team, our design and development teams mapped out the minimum sellable product and divided the goal into epics, features, and user stories which we tackled on a sprint-by-sprint basis. We worked closely with HCP to ensure design and technical requirements for MSP were clearly defined and aligned with their vision. Progress made was communicated through bi-weekly demos and we made sure to actively incorporate client feedback.
With our minimum sellable product, we aim to create software which allows HCP to onboard accounts and account members as well as manage compliance training for those accounts. Accomplishing both of our tasks ultimately helped HCP save on costs associated with defects or issues due to shortcomings of their software, and reduced the number of incident reports to HCP’s customer service team.
